Characters are fragile in a world full of darkness and danger; combat is brutal, and death comes quickly for most. There may not be much solace in the gods and religions. Darkness is an enemy.

This system cuts out all the needless bloat but tries to add a bit of rules to enhance the game, allowing players to feel like progression matters. Health points are left low on characters and enemies to allow for fast combat, where one round can change combat. Threat levels allow for the Judge to adjust random encounters and torch timers based on the threat or danger of an area.
